Two Adelaide Adrenaline players have led the way in for Team Australia in their 5-1 over Belgium at the 2017 Division II Group B World Ice Hockey Championships in Serbia over night.
Marcel McGuiness, who had three assists in Australia's 5-2 opening game win over Iceland, registered another helper on the opening goal. He now has four assists in two games.
Jake Riley, one of the youngest members of the team, scored a goal for Australia late in the second period to help seal the deal for the Aussies.
Marcel and Jake both made with their debuts with the Adrenaline last season and are expected to have a bigger on-ice role with the club.
McGuiness now leads the tournament in +/- with a stellar rating of +5.
In this game Findlay Wood took a starring role for Team Australia. The forward scored four goals, including two in the first period, in the victory.
Austrlia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and added another early in the second. Belgium had a glimmer of hope when they made it 3-1 in the second but Australia responded with two late goals to push the score to 5-1.
South Australia's Andrew Chen is also on the squad.
Australia will have a day off before taking on one of the tournament favourites Spain on Thursday afternoon.
