Match Report @ Perth Thunder 7th June

It was a perfect start for the home team, the Perth Thunder, with the league-leading scorer Yu Hikosaka beaming down on the breakaway and beating Cale Dolan just after the 5-minute mark.

Things looked to be on the up for the Thunder, with Skyler Luo doubling the home team's tally after firing one into the crease, getting a fortunate bounce and the puck looped over Dolan and into the Adrenaline goal.

With a 2-goal deficit and just over 8 minutes remaining in the third, Adrenaline would've been happy with clawing one back, even happier to tie it up but instead? Adelaide piled on the pressure, with the returning Coy Prevost, newcomer Romans Nedlukovs and the ever-present Josh Adkins and Nathaniel Benson firing FOUR goals past Aleksi Toivonen.

A struggling Adelaide Powerplay seemed to have remedied, with a goal on the 5on3 powerplay and a goal straight after the 5on4!

In the second period it was a carbon copy for the Thunder, they struck first and they struck twice, tying things up with thanks to Kolby Johnson and Kieren Webster. Things strayed at 4-4 for a while, with Webster's powerplay goal at 12:55 not evoking a response from either team until the 3:46 mark.

At 3:46, it was last week's game-winning goalscorer for the Adrenaline making his authority known, a wicked wrist shot that flew into the top right corner, glove side on Toivonen - and that gave the Adrenaline the lead headed on into the third!

Third period began and the Adrenaline were relentless, the forecheck was on fine form and the Thunder had no reply to the impressive performance from the SA side. 

To break the deadlock of the frame, increasing their lead, it was #12 Josh Adkins putting one home for his second of the night with 3:37 still to go, assisted by Romans Nekludovs and young-gun Dominik Trnka.

With nothing to lose, the home side pulled their goalie for the extra skater, but Coy Prevost marked his re-debut with an empty net goal, doubling his tally for the night and making it 7-4 on the evening!
