The Adelaide Adrenaline and Canberra Brave went head-to-head for a thrilling game with both teams lighting up the score sheet with a true back-and-forth showdown. Every time Adelaide would score, Canberra seemed to bounce right back, keeping the packed out crowd on the edge of their seats!
Kyle MacPhail, playing his very first AIHL game, opened the scoring to give Adelaide an early lead but Canberra didn’t take long to respond and tie it back up.
Adelaide ended the first period leading 2-1 and by the end of second period, both teams were tied at 3-3.
Intro the third period, the Adrenaline turned it up and kept the pressure on Canberra, firmly in the driving seat as they snagged a two-goal lead.
But with five minutes left on the clock, Canberra battled back, scoring twice in quick succession to tie things up and force the game into Overtime.
In OT, a powerplay opened the door for Canberra on the 4on3, with veteran Bayley Kubara sealing the game for the Brave.
2024 Top Point Scorer for the Adrenaline, Josh Adkins, picked up two goals this game with Julian Friederich and Remy McGuiness each earning themselves a goal as well as Kyle MacPhail.
Adelaide outshot Canberra 29-27.
The Adrenaline are back at the IceArena tonight for Game Two of their 2025 season, where they’ll be looking to come out on top and pick up a few more points in the league standings.
