Team Australia are off to a winning start at the U18 Div 2 World Championships thanks to a little bit of South Australian flavour.
Australia opened their campaign with a 5-2 win over Iceland over night. 17-year-old Adrenaline young gun Marcel McGuiness starred by picking up three assists during the game.
Two of Marcel's assists came in the first period as Australia built a 3-1 lead and never looked back.
Marcel is joined by fellow Adrenaline player Jake Riley and South Australian Andrew Chen. Both Riley and Chen had strong first games despite not appearing on the score sheet.
Sydney Bears' netminder James Downie was excellent between the pipes for the Australians. He made 18 saves in the win.
Australia play their next game at 10:30pm Adelaide time vs. Belgium. Spain defeated Belgium 7-1 in their opening game.
