Two members of the 2016 Adelaide Adrenaline, and four South Australians, have been named to the 2017 Australian Under 18 team.
Forwards Marcel McGuiness and Jake Riley will join fellow South Aussies Seb Woodlands and Andrew Chen on Team Australia. The team will travel to Serbia in the Division II World Championships in March 2017.
McGuiness played in 11 games last season for the Adrenaline, earning trust and ice time from the coaching staff. He scored a goal and played valuable minutes for the club.
Jake Riley, 16, made four appearances for the Adrenaline last year in his first taste of the AIHL level. He is one of Australia's rising talents.
Andrew Chen, 16, won a gold medal with McGuiness and Riley at last year's World Championship. Team Australia won gold to earn promotion from Division III to II. Chen is another young South Australian for fans to pay attention to. He is attending the Ontario Hockey Academy in Canada.
Seb Woodlands will make his maiden appearance for Team Australia at this level. He is a goalie prospect to watch for Adrenaline fans who has put together a strong junior campaign in Adelaide.
Here is the Facebook post from Australian National Youth Team Facebook Page:
"Hi Everyone,
Thank you very much for your patience. It has been more than difficult this year selecting a team that will compliment each other while keeping us in Division II. Everyone that I have contacted, seen tryout and scouted overseas has been more than worthy of representing Australia. As with any team there are only so many spots on a team!
Please congratulate with me the members of the 2017 National Youth Team that will go to Serbia and represent Australia in the Division II World Chapionships:
