The Adelaide Adrenaline, presented by Hards Transport succumbed to the Sydney Bears in a tough afternoon at the Ice Arena.
The Adrenaline never really challenged the Bears and failed to rectify the disappointment of last weekend’s two losses against the Mustangs in Melbourne.
The 6-2 score line was indicative of the overall play, as the Adrenaline trailed throughout and couldn’t find any rhythm to their play.
Despite conceding 6 goals, Pete King was again solid in net, making numerous big stops and saving his side from an even more embarrassing loss.
Adelaide will also take some satisfaction out of a more disciplined effort, only being short-handed on one occasion whilst forcing the visitors to take multiple penalties.
The power play was clicking for the home side too, with both goals coming with the extra man.
The more disciplined display is of little satisfaction to the Adrenaline however, who will be far more concerned about the fact they have now lost five straight games and are now languishing on the bottom of the AIHL ladder.
Adelaide coach, Trevor Walsh blooded 16 year old young guns, Marcel Mcguiness and Jake Reilly who had a tough introduction to AIHL hockey but showed glimpses of their ability.
Mcguiness had a fantastic scoring opportunity in the third period but just whiffed on a one-timer. Reilly too had a solid scoring chance denied.
For the visitors, Cameron Todd was fantastic, scoring a hat trick to lead his team in what was a must-win for the Bears as well.
The Bears have now overtaken the Adrenaline in the standings, who are now last in the AIHL after nine games, with only two wins.
The Adrenaline will be looking to rebound tomorrow as the two teams play each other once again.
