The new era of the Adrenaline continues, with today’s announcement of the signing of Head Coach Jade Galbraith.
Jade comes to Adelaide from Hinton, Alberta with an impressive playing career which included top level junior hockey in the WHL (Canada), NCAA and professional hockey in the ECHL (USA/Canada) and EIHL (United Kingdom).
The 43-year-old Canadian who has worked extensively in skills coaching, particularly in junior hockey, now turns his attention to the Adelaide Adrenaline.
“I’m looking forward to working with both the young guys and those that have played in the league for a long time. Give them my knowledge…But we are here to win. I don’t like to lose. I’m very competitive.”, Galbraith said about his plans for the Adrenaline.
“Guys are playing because they care. They play because they love the game. As a coach you need to realise guys are doing this because they love it.” Despite living in Canada and having played hockey around the world, Galbraith shared a connection to Adelaide, and excitement to be involved in the long term vision of the Adrenaline.
“My wife is Australian, she has family in Adelaide. Eventually my wife and I want to make Adelaide home so making connections is something important to us moving forward. I’m going to try and grow the game in Adelaide as much as I can, because I love the game. I’m here to make hockey a bit bigger. Hopefully fans like what we put on the ice.” When asked about his expectations of Australian hockey and plans for the season, Galbraith was holding his judgement for when he arrives for the first official training next week.
“When I played in England, a couple of guys would come down and play. It’s different to Canada, it’s not the number one sport in Australia. I’m excited to see it. I’ve watched some film and highlights, but until you are there and see it it’s hard to assume.” Adrenaline General Manager Glen Foll was excited to share the coaching announcement and direction for the club in 2025.
“
As an organisation we identified that we wanted to bring a coach in who can take our team to the next level. Throughout the summer I have spoken to multiple guys and Jade stood out. He’s got high level playing experience, a passion for development and he resonates with Adelaide and what we are trying to achieve.” Said Foll. “This is a great opportunity for both Jade and the team and I’m looking forward to working with him once he arrives” Galbraith arrived in Adelaide yesterday as the Adrenaline held a team meeting ahead of a formal team training session at the Ice Arena in preparation of the first home weekend against Canberra in late April.
