Player Signing: Joey MacDougall

The 2024 AIHL season is promising to be an exciting one for fans to witness, especially with more regular season games and veteran players returning with polished teams to the frontline. That’s why the Adelaide Adrenaline are thrilled to welcome captain Joey MacDougall back to lead the team for the another season. 
 

Since moving to Adelaide from Ontario, Canada, Joey has split his time on the ice between the Adelaide Adrenaline and Adelaide Tigers and is also the coach of the Adelaide Rush.

His proven ability to foster an environment where rookies and veteran players alike strive for growth together is a testament to his leadership abilities. You can also add modesty to his profile, as he credits each individual player on the Adrenaline for the improvements they’ve made since last season.
 

“We have a great room of guys who bring a varying degree of knowledge and experience and we’ve managed to create a dressing room that has collective goals and each player holds themselves and their teammates accountable. The season ahead is going to require a lot of focus on fitness, discipline and teamwork, but I think all of our players are up for the challenge and we’ll see some success because of it.”
 

Lucky for the Adrenaline, Joey has recently been granted Australian permanent residency and is looking forward to becoming a solid fixture in the AIHL and Adelaide in general. His permanent residency gives local status, no longer counting towards the Adrenaline import count.
 

“I really enjoy the pace of things in Adelaide and I’ve grown very accustomed to beach side living, which is something we definitely didn’t have where I grew up in Canada. I’ve been provided with so many great opportunities in Adelaide which have allowed me to build a comfortable life here, so I’d like to stick around for a while.”
 

Fans can see Joey lead the Adrenaline in their first home game of the season on Saturday 13 April 2024.
