Jake Hazel has joined the Adrenaline for the 2023 AIHL season.
Over the last few years, he has proven himself to be a top level stay-at-home defenceman with great awareness and skill. Hazel joins the many Adrenaline players that won the PHL championship last year with the Adelaide Avalanche, with previous experience in the AJIHL and a gold medal at the Syd Tange Memorial Trophy tournament in 2019.
Often you will not notice him on the ice due to his steadiness and great positioning, have a look for him when he’s on the ice this year to get a sense for how he plays.
Elite Team Australia defenceman and Perth Thunder captain Jamie Woodman got the chance to play on a pairing with Hazel last year, this is what he had to say about him.
“It was really cool coming to Adelaide and playing with Jake Hazel. Obviously I'd been playing for a while and he was a little bit younger, so I never had the chance to play with or against him before. I didn’t have much to go off but I could see what he had was great. He's really steady defensively. He makes good outlet passes, has good foot speed. I was really impressed with that and we got match up against every first line in the league. I think we did really, really well with it. He's a young guy with a lot of potential. He'll have a great career in the AIHL and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully he doesn't play as well against us this season, but it was awesome to have him for a while.”
See Jake play at our home opener against the Sydney Bears, tickets available now.
