Player Signing: Ty Wright
Thursday, March 14, 2024 - Submitted by Joanna Gruenberg

The Adelaide Adrenaline are thrilled to announce the signing of defenceman Ty Wright.

Ty’s status as a dual Canadian/New Zealand citizen means his signing doesn’t count towards our import count, and he couldn’t be more excited to play on Australian soil (or ice) for the first time.

After playing in the South Central Alberta Hockey league for some time he moved to California, where he sharpened his skating and puck handling skills while representing the Fresno Monsters in the Western States Hockey League. Although COVID put a brief halt to his career, Ty was able to keep playing at the Senior level in Saskatchewan and is now looking forward to showcase his unique skills here in Adelaide.

“I have great vision on the ice and can anticipate the play very well,” Ty says. “I’ll bring a very defensive oriented presence to the team and can move the puck with purpose in the offensive zone.”

Looking at the year ahead, Ty anticipates that it will be a great year for the Adrenaline and can’t wait to get the season started.

“I’m excited to get to know all the guys here and experience playing in Australia, as the ice is different to what I’m used to in North America.”

As for his spare time off the ice, Ty is ready to embrace the best of what Adelaide has to offer.

“I just want to see as much of the beach and ocean as possible. Although I grew up in Canada, I’m not one for the cold weather!”
