2017 Adelaide Adrenaline Roster
Tuesday, April 18, 2017

The Adelaide Adrenaline, proudly presented by Hards Transport, are pleased to announce their roster for their Round 1 game vs. defending champion Newcastle North Stars.

The game is at 4:30pm on April 22 at the Adelaide IceArenA and tickets can be purchased at www.tickets.adelaideadrenaline.com.au.

This year's team is coached by head coach Sami Mantere and assistant coach Neil Boyle. Dean Worsely steps in as equipment manager and joining us all the way from Canada is Mike Biergard to be our team manager.

The off-ice team has been working closely with the players since December to make sure they are in shape for the season. It has been a long, intensive summer of training and now we feel like we can't wait one day longer to play for the city of Adelaide.

Here is your 2017 Adrenaline Roster with your scratches from the line up for this weekend.

DEFENSE

#3 Jordan Geyer, sponsored by Tania and Jason Geyer

19-year-old Jordan Geyer returns for a second season with the team in what will be classed as a "rookie" year. Jordan saw limited action in four games last season.

He has grown a lot as a person and a player this last year. He is learning to adjust to the AIHL level after being an integral part of the National Champion junior side Adelaide Generals.

He has worked hard all off-season, rarely missing a training, and fighting hard to earn a spot on the team. We look forward to watching him grow and develop as a player.

#5 Casey Babineau, sponsored by IceArena

Casey comes to us from the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). He had a standout four-year university career with UPEI, three of which he played with Adrenaline import Cole MacMillan.

Babineau also played four years in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Rimouski Oceanic where he played with and against some of the best players in the NHL.

He is expected to be a defensive leader who is reliable in front of his own net. From all reports he has great hands and will be able to move the puck well in this league.

#6 Zach Boyle, sponsored by TAD Transformers

Welcome back, Zach. At 20 years of age Zach has already played 66 games in the AIHL. He spent two years with the Adrenaline from 2014 to 2015 before playing a season with the CBR Brave. Boyle is one of the most experienced yong players in the league.

Zach learned a lot from his time in Canberra and benefitted from increased ice time on a winning team. He came just short of the Goodall Cup losing in the Grand Final. He is one of the best young defenseman in the country.

Boyle is speedy and smart and getting better every year.

#23 David Huxley, sponsored by Robert Rogerson Consulting

Huxley is a mainstay on the Australian Senior Men's team. "Hux" has played for the Adrenaline since he was 16 and enters his 13th season with the team.

He is expected to be a leader and one of the best defenseman on the team.

#27 Ben Gebert, sponsored by Power Play Sports

Gebert returns to the Adrenaline after taking the last two seasons off. He owns the local shop in the rink - Power Play Sports- and is a well known character in the Ice Hockey community.

Gebert is solid defensively and extremely smart on the rink. He'll be a big part of the group in 2017 adding depth, grit and determination.

#58 Morgan McNeill, sponsored by Anytime Fitness and the Adelaide Red Wings

Morgan joins the Adrenaline from Bouctouche Rams in a Senior Canadian Hockey league. His team lost in the National Semi Finals this season.

He brings a wealth of experience having played at a whole range of levels in Canada. He will be playing for the Adelaide Red Wings locally.

He trains young player who are eligible to be drafted in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He is a hard working player who adds import depth and will push all the guys on the team.

FORWARDS

#7 Ryan Foll, sponsored by Matt Barrie Home Improvements

Ryan Foll returns for another season and he is hoping to continue steady improvements.

Foll scored his first AIHL goal and is showing a penchant for the net. He led the Adelaide Generals to the AJIHL championship as the captain. He also led the junior team in points.

#10 Greg Oddy, sponsored by Bargain Steel Centre

He is the all-time Australian goals, games and points leader. If you're watching Greg it's like you're watching a living record book. He leads the AIHL in all-time goals, assists, points and games.

Oddy is in his 17th AIHL season and is just eighth points away from becoming the first ever player in AIHL history to 600 points. He has an astonishing 192 more points than retired Bears forward Vlad Rubes, the second highest on the list.

#11 Cameron Critchlow, sponsored by Dr. John Chen

He's captained a team in Canada to three national championships in four seasons for the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds in the CIS. Cameron brings leadership, goal scoring and a game-changing presence.

In Junior hockey, while playing with #1 NHL pick Nathan MacKinnon and NHL-star Jonathan Drouin, Critchlow scored four goals in an elimination Game 7 final to advance his Halifax Mooseheads.

#12 Darren Corstens, sponsored by Arrunga Surfacing

Darren is a 26 year old forward with eight years of AIHL experience. He is a speedy, hard working winger with offensive upside.

Corstens has 92 points in 152 games and is regular in the conversation for an Aussie national team spot.

He has been one of the hardest workers in the off-season and seems determined to make this a career year.

#13 Cole MacMillan (Import), sponsored by Carol Hunter Psychology

Cole returns for a second season with the Adrenaline as an import. He grew up in PEI and captained the University of Prince Edward Island team where he met Casey Babineau.

He is a gritty shut-down forward who put up a point per game last season. Cole spent half the year on defense in 2016 after a slew of unfortunate injuries and suspensions plagued the team. He put up 25 points in 28 games last year. We expect increased production as he will be playing forward all season.

#14 Remy McGuiness, sponsored by Boileau Business Solutions

Remy McGuiness, 20, is entering his fourth season with the Adrenaline but he has struggled to say healthy for a whole year. This year we hope the story is different.

McGuiness is fast skater and hard checker who was also part of the national champion Adelaide Generals in the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League. He keeps improving every year and hopes to make 2017 an impact season.

He is a high-energy player who can really grind and wear down opponents.

#15 Tyson Boyd, sponsored by Ultimate Plumbing

He is described as one of the most feared Ice Hockey South Australian (IHSA) Premier League players. He plays hard in the corners and is a big presence in front of the net. Tyson has made the leap to the AIHL at 27 and is one of the veteran guys on the team.

#16 Jake Riley, sponsored by Melissa de Zwart

Jake turned 17 just the week before the season started. His young age is promising considering all his accomplishments.

In the off-season Riley won a gold medal with the Team Australia at the Division II Under-18 World Ice Hockey Championships. He returned and won MVP in the gold-medal game of the Australian national junior championships. He has already shown a knack for the net in the senior competition in Adelaide.

Can he make an impact with the Adrenaline at such a young age?

#17 Marcel McGuiness, sponsored by Gregor Constructions

Coupled with Jake Riley, Marcel is one of two 17-year-olds on the team. Marcel is already turning heads. McGuiness was one of the leading scorers on the Under 18 Australian Team that won gold. In the IHSA Premier League he is putting up big numbers.

In the Adrenaline exhibition game he scored four goals and coach Mantere expects him to compete hard for a significant spot on the team.

#19 Josef Rezek, sponsored by the Adrenaline Junkies

Rezek has become one of the fan favourites over the last few seasons as evidenced by his player sponsor being the Adrenaline Junkies (Adelaide's supporter group).

Rezek is a Czech-turned-Australia who just wore the Green and Gold at the Division II World Ice Hockey Championships in Romania. Austalia won silver and Rezek led all players in the tournament in points. He has one of the best shots on the teams and you can expect him to be one of the leading scorers on the Adrenaline in 2017.

#20 Graham Charbonneau, sponsored by studio-gram

After playing one of the highest levels of junior hockey in Canada, "Charbs" moved to Australia. He has played on-and-off for the Adrenaline/Avalanche since 2005 and brings a wealth of hockey knowledge, experience and leadership to the team.

Charbonneau is one of the smartest players in the rink and plays with an edge. In a game in Adelaide in 2015 he dumped a player into the stands during play.

#73 Steve Best, sponsored by Gavin Best Roofing

Steve Best returns to the Adrenaline. He had his first multi-point game in the season last year and will look to improve on that total.

He is one of the fastest players on the team and uses his speed to burn opponents and get in scoring positions. Best is always among the league scorers in A-Grade with the Red Wings.

GOALIES

#1 Glen Forbes White, sponsored by Adelaide Adrenaline Development Program

Glen will put on the Adrenaline uniform for the first time this weekend. He was the starting goalie for the Adelaide Generals this season.

#39 Pete King, sponsored by Shane Manhire

King returns to the Adrenaline after a breakout season that saw him play in all 28 games. King has been involved with the team for nearly a decade and is one of the leaders in the community. He regularly is seen coaching young goalies and helping the juniors.

ON THE ROSTER BUT NOT IN THE LINE UP SATURDAY

#8 Sean Greer, sponsored by HARDS TRANSPORT - Defense

Sean Greer is playing in his 11th AIHL season. He is not available for the first game because he is serving the final game of a suspension dating back to the 2016 season.

He has turned into a key leader on this team and is expected to be a productive veteran player on a young Adrenaline team. He plays a strong, physical style of hockey and is the first to stick up for his team mates. His booming point shot gives him offensive upside.

#9 Wehebe Darge, sponsored by Organic Market and Cafe (2016) - Forward

Import or not, Wehebe is the best player in the AIHL. He won the MVP of the AIHL last season and has been the best player on the Adrenaline for the past few seasons. He is smart, fast and crafty around the net.

Wehebe will return to the AIHL after some time away from hockey. He is currently traveling to enjoy a mini-break after playing non-stop hockey for almost five years.

#35 Tyler Steel, sponsored by Shane Manhire - Defense

Tyler joins Adelaide from the Southern Professional Hockey League's (SPHL) Huntsville Havoc. Steel is the starting goalie for the Havoc and will join the Adrenaline when the season ends in early May.

Steel was named the SPHL Player of the Month in December 2016.

#49 Jamie Holland

Jamie is one of the hardest working members of the Adrenaline. He is from England and has been living in Australia the last few years. He moved to Adelaide in 2015 and has been training with the team ever since.

Last year Jamie got his first call-up to the team and scored his first goal. He is one of the wisest players on the rink and improves the players around him.
