Adrenaline call on fans to make "Cauldron of Noise"
Tuesday, June 13, 2017
The Adelaide Adrenaline, proudly presented by Hards Transport, have a fantastic opportunity to push themselves into a finals spot this weekend with a couple victories vs. the visiting Melbourne Mustangs.

But they will need a little help from their fans to get there.

Club president Eric Balnar is calling upon Adrenaline fans to create a "cauldron of noise" to help push the Adrenaline to victory.

This weekend is extremely important in the context of the season.

With two wins and six points in the bank, the Adrenaline will:
- be guaranteed a spot in the top four at their halfway point of the season
- create much needed breathing room between themselves and the Mustangs
- Pass their regulation win total from a 28 game season last year
- Equal their number of points

Needless to say this is a massive weekend. Game time is 4:30PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased at www.tickets.adelaideadrenaline.com.

Head coach Sami Mantere says the IceArenA needs to be turned into a fortress.

"We need to make the IceArenA the toughest place to play in the AIHL. I want other teams to feel miserable and frustrated when they play here," he says. "With 10 more home games left this season we have a chance to capitalise and take points against everyone."

"Simply put: we need any sort of noise."

The Adrenaline are building off a possible season defining 8-5 win on the road in Canberra at the "Brave Cave". The Adrenaline handed the Brave just their sixth regulation loss since 2014 at home.

"That's what we need to turn the IceArenA into. The fans can play a large part," says Mantere. "To be honest, our win vs. Canberra means very little if we don't take points this weekend at home."

Adrenaline forward Zach Boyle, who played in front of the CBR crowd last year, says the fans are what makes the difference.

"That's what makes Canberra such a tough place to play," he says. "It gives you a boost and it's so hard for other teams to play in front of."

President Eric Balnar says he has been impressed with the fan support but thinks it can go another level.

"Three years ago we struggled to fill the building and now we're packed almost every game. We have an official fan club formed in the Adrenaline Junkies who make a lot of noise, we have fans engaging with the club in merchandise and fundraising but we need to go next level," he says.

"I want to stand in the ArenA on the weekend and not be able to hear myself think," he says.

The Adrenaline Junkies will be running a competition this weekend. The craziest fans will be awarded two VIP tickets to Sunday's game as extra motivation to get loud.

Further, the Mustangs have a strong travelling fan base and the Adrenaline fans need to "drown them out."

Cameron Critchlow, who has played at some of the highest levels in Canada, says a positive home crowd can make all the difference.

"It's great playing in front of passionate fans and I would love to see all of the IceArenA get behind us," says Critchlow. "You can always count on the fans to lift you up in the game so it makes a huge difference."

Critchlow adds that a strong home fanbase can make it hard for the opposition.

"It's not easy for teams to come into our rink and face that atmosphere and energy," he says.

This weekend could serve as a good benchmark of what to expect from Adrenaline fans as they gear up for a stretch run of eight home games in July and August. The games will only get more important from here on out as the Adrenaline try to lock down a playoff spot for the first time in five years.

"The games are only going to get bigger from here," says Balnar.
