The Adelaide Adrenaline, proudly presented by Hards Transports, are pleased to announce that we will be able to compete in the 2016 Australian Ice Hockey League season ending a month of speculation that ice would not be ready in time at it's home venue - the IceArenA.
The South Australian Ice Sports Federation announced yesterday that they have reached an agreement that will see a complete new ice surface ready to use at the Ice ArenA as little time as four weeks.
The Ice had been shut down since the end of February 2016 under extensive repairs. The Adrenaline program had been subject to weeks of speculation that they would not be able to compete in the upcoming AIHL season which begins on April 23.
"This is fantastic news for our program," says president Ryan O'Handley. "We were in real jeopardy of losing the season but this means we can move ahead as planned and try to win a Goodall Cup."
"It will be nice to meet with the committee and actually plan our season rather than deal with a crisis"
While news of a new ice surface is positive, the beginning of the Adrenaline season will be pushed back.
The current AIHL schedule has the Adrenaline opening their season with three home games on April 23 vs. Newcastle and April 30/May 1 vs. Perth. These games will be rescheduled for later in the season and the Adrenaline will not lose any home games.
The Adrenaline will now open the season on the road on May 7 in Melbourne vs. the Melbourne Ice. The new home opener is May 15 vs. the Sydney Ice Dogs.
Individual tickets will be on sale by April 15 - just 30 days before our home opener. Until then, season tickets and game packs are available at www.adelaideadrenaline.com.au with early bird prices expiring April 10.
