The Adelaide Adrenaline are proud to announce the appointment of two new Assistant Coaches for the upcoming Australian Ice Hockey League season.
Sami Mantere and Gordon Cochrane will join the club on a restructured coaching panel also featuring the recently appointed Head Coach, Trevor Walsh.
Sami and Gordon will bring over five decades of playing and coaching experience, providing the club with priceless hockey knowledge and a dedication to success.
Gordon, who is the brother of the famed former NHL enforcer Glen Cochrane, brings unprecedented hockey pedigree to the club.
The British Columbia native has spent the past 30 years coaching both here in Australia and abroad in some of Canada’s best leagues.
Having previously been involved heavily in Ice Hockey in South Australia, including coaching consecutive Goodall Cup winning sides, Gordon is looking forward to applying his extensive knowledge in more of a behind-the-scenes role.
Sami Mantere rejoins the Adrenaline coaching panel after a successful stint in 2009-10, where as a player and coach he won the 2009 Goodall Cup.
Hailing from Finland, Sami previously played for the Finnish U-20 National Team as well as studying coaching at the University of Vierumaki, during which time he was heavily involved in player development programs for the Finnish National Team.
Sami’s brings a vast amount of experience both as a player and coach with involvement not only at the highest levels of the sport in Finland, but also at the grassroots here in Australia, coaching juniors for both Ice Hockey South Australia and Ice Hockey Australia.
We warmly welcome both Sami and Gordon back to the club and look forward to their vital input throughout the 2016 AIHL season.
